HOW DOES IT WORK AND WHAT DOES IT TREAT?
IPL works by emitting an intense pulse of light into the skin which is absorbed by elements with colour (Chromophores) in the skin. The chromophores IPL can target include:
- Melanin - Brown in pigment areas (Pigmentation)
- Haemosiderin - red in blood vessels (Spider Veins, Broken Capillaries)
- Rosacea
- Acne and Acne scarring
- Fine lines and wrinkles
Once the photons from the light hit the chromophore it turns to heat energy, breaking up these abnormal areas, leaving the healthy skin unaffected.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Treatment results will vary depending on individual concerns. IPL is most effective when done consecutively in a course of 6 treatments monthly.
